People moan when science isn't in the news, and then when it is it's derided (see: Hawking). Journalists can't win! #unpopularopinion

Just been interviewed by @emersugrue about the @PodDelusion for an Irish student newspaper. Mentioned Dawkins maybe too often for Ireland.

If Coulson was a superhero, the government would have a secret lab trying to weaponise his power to listen in on Bin Laden.

I can't really imagine why Myers might find Hague attractive? Surely power doesn't compensate for the fact that it's *William Hague*?

Look away now if you’re easily offended
    February 3rd, 2006 at 21:25

I didn’t realise I was this powerful- I think by adding a caption to the picture above I’ve instantly offended millions of people- hooray! I try so hard to try and offend say, Charlie, yet I could have made less effort for far more results.
I think what annoys me most about this whole fiasco is that the cartoon that everyone’s offended by is terrible. If you see the actual thing, you’ll see that its not funny and looks a bit offensive- implying that all muslims are suicide bombers or something. This is infinately more offensive than “oh no, an illustration of a human who you could probably have a bit of a guess about how he looked”. I mean, unless he had no nose or something- but that’d probably be mentioned somewhere in the Koran as it’s quite important. Terrible!
Tomorrow my guest will be Chairman Mao, and I’ll be trying to offend my Chinese readers.

its funny how these people react to a picture of a suicidal bomber, they could have protested in letters or e-mailed the people responsible, but no LETS GO BURN STUFF AND MAKE LOADS OF NOISE, yeah thats done a lot for their image :P

The reason for the outrage is because of the very fact that the cartoon depicts Muhammad. In Islamic culture fine art is strictly prohibited, which means the only art that exists there is calligraphy. Because Muhammad is a character in the Koran, which sets this rule, there’s no doubt that the Muslims have taken offence because these actions have impeded upon their religion, not because of their association with suicide bombings.

Crystal, not that I’m a Muslim, but it’s not *quite* true.

Images of Mohammed are certainly frowned upon, but if done in a suitably reverential way, there wouldn’t be the huge mess that we’re currently seeing.

Regardless of religion, those cartoons are pretty damn insulting, and more importantly, idiotically stupid.
