The non-event

Today has been really quite irritating. I’ve done a number of things that I’d usually be able to harvest all number of anecdotes out of, that I could repeat on my blog to mass acclaim. But today has been really, really standard. Nothing out of the ordinary. I mean, usually I can write 700 words about talking to a window cleaner, but today I’m at a loss about what to tell you about. I’ll tell you about yesterday instead.
I went to University and got checked on the train again. I think my unruly beard is making them more suspicious of me. In fact, walking to the station, I decided that I’d try not buying a ticket. I thought I’d stride confidently onto the train, and offer up the cash, only if prompted. Of course, the one day I decide to be a bad ass is the one day that in the station foyer, and thus access to the platform, has not only both ticket booths open, but also has four on-train ticket checkers with their ticket printing PDAs standing around, also issuing tickets. There was two more standing by the doors leading to the platform, stamping train tickets before you even get to the train.
This just strikes me as really suspicious. The lack of Metros anywhere really added to what was quite a bizarre train journey, by train standards- although “brain-numbingly tedious” by actual excitement standards.
HOW DID THEY KNOW?! My tinfoil hat is in the post… or have they intercepted that too?
